I'm disappointed Mike Gravel wasn't given more air time at the debates and in the media. He seems very interesting. and, i am not a dem.
Pon Paul is still in the race. so, I'm with him til the end. but, my favorite candidates were dennis k. and mike g. along with Ron Paul!

Gravel is certainly right that big corporations, often in cahoots with the politicians and/or lobbies, control what we are allowed to hear in the US in the mainstream media. Part of the reason that the "propaganda bubble" we suffer from in the US is so ironclad is the lack of diversifed media not under the control of large corporations. Most western countries have far more "freedom of the press" than the US in terms of the breadth of ideas and opinion that is presented.

Gravel's points regarding General Electric are well-stated and his removal from the debates did demonstrate the abuse of power by main stream media. However, his condemnation of Obama and the other candidates appears bitter.
I do think it would have been good form for the other candidates to stand together openly and to object to msm's bullying of Kucinich, Ron Paul, and Gravel. One must wonder how careful these candidates have to be with powerful corporations like GE, who are lurking behind the scenes and pulling strings.
What battles must they choose? This is not a cut and dry issue as Gravel portrays.

As for "citizen power", one shouldn't forget that a number of countries have far more democracy than the US.
For example, in Switzerland, ANY proposal that involves the spending of more than a designated sum (the magnitude of which depends on whether it is national, state or local expenditure) is REQUIRED to be approved in a referendum. Similarly, a fairly small number of citizens can FORCE a referendum at any level of government on any issue.
