Why not? The shortest ones--Dr. Seuss and the like--can easily be read in half an hour before bed, with the help of an encouraging parent, and the longest would take a few weeks at most if the child is of the appropriate age. Childhood is long, and 100 books is not very many.
I don't think every child is going to be able to read all 100 though.
