Poor citizens of the nation of Niger. They got the worst part, living in slums, drinking poluted water and living under $1 a day. The oil companies made promises to this people, but as usual, broken promises. On top of that their lives where better before the oil boom arrived, they fished for a living and they hunted, often bringing alot more than needed and then being able to sell the goods. Now, they depend on frozen fish because the oil killed the wildlife in this region.

Ah the diamond trade is a much nicer and softer approach to business isnt it? How long untill the warlords dig their claws into this commodity and start genocide and mass maiming to control this resource? Maybe they can enslave other Africans to dig up that oil like they do with the diamond trade? Africa suffers from a variety of things folks but it is bloodiest when their own poeple get involved for some reason.

We're not talking about the diamond trade here c. We're talking about the comparison of life for these people before oil was discovered in their land and what the oil companies have done since. The diamond trade is another story---just as bad. And btw the mass killing and genocide have already begun in Sudan, Sierra Leone and other African countries.

oh I know ALL about that. I am merely saying that once a resource is found in africa mass killings and the like run rampant. usually by their own hands.
