And you know that none of it has to do with right and wrong. It has to do with we are bigger than you and we don't care about thou shall not kill and we will kill you if you get out of line and run toward home and your son and your wife.

Well, that is exactly what I expect from a mindless wonder like Halko. He can rationalize ANYTHING, even war.
David, why not lighten up a bit, watch some public television, take a walk in the park, smoke a doobie, enjoy a warm bath. Then go to the library and read some non-fiction, you can ask ANY DEMLIB where to find the local library, since I KNOW you have never actually been.

Kings James' boys got it wrong. In Aramaic it says thou shalt not commit murder! If we did not kill anything, life on earth would have evaporated before it got started.
Now you are thinking there is no difference between killing and murder. If you confer with Mr. Webster, you will find ' there is a 'night and day' difference in the definitions and hence the meaning of the commandment.
God in the Old Testament commanded killings even genocide so why whould he make a commandment telling us not to do it? The Old testament even had 'cities of refuge' to which one could flee if they commited manslaughter. As long as they stayed there, they could not be prosecuted.
Killing is an open public act while murder is covert and hidden.
For those who believe they believe in thou shalt not kill would they allow the species to die out because they would not protect their young? Preservation of the species is supposedly a very strong instict in animals.

Right. If you kill someone because you want to, it's murder. If someone in authority orders you to kill, it's not murder, it's a legitimate killing. And you never have any right to question your orders--once you establish that the person giving the orders is in authority over you, you must do what they say, even if it means killing someone for no apparent reason.
Ours is not to reason why, ours is but to do and die.
Of course, by this argument, Hitler's concentration camp guards did not commit murder--they were only obeying orders.

You missed part of my point. We kill daily to survive! Our food was once something living. I was taking the Thou shalt not kill theme to an extreme. Thus I find that stance unsupportable from that persepctive.
Then I attacked the Biblical interpretation as being in error too.
As to your conclusions, interesting but a little off the mark. One has the right to question an unlawful order. I refused to falsify maintenance records for our Commo Platoon. The officer could do nothing about it. The records remained as they were, truthful! We took the hit on inspection showing how unrealistic the schedule was with the manpower and time alotted.

What the heck is the point of posting an article if you aren't gonna talk about it? Why not just make up your own topic and go with it?

The reason it got so many votes is that the title is a *BIBLE PHRASE* and we have hundreds of NEOCON RELIGIOUS CHRISTIAN MORONS floating around here on netscape voting for anything they think WREAKS of GOD or the RAPTURE.

Yeah, you're right! Let's kill the unborn before they have a chance to strap on a bomb and blow us all up. Good analogy, Einstein.
Or you could let them not be aborted, be an unwanted & abused child, grow up to be a menace to society, then kill them. Einstein....Hmmmm
