Gates has stolen vast sections of human culture and experience. Corbis, a Gates' owned corp., bought the Bettman Archives then sunk the artifacts in a limestone well shaft; to be "preserved" for saftey's sake. When one considers that Otto Bettman fled Nazi Germany with the embryo of the archives to preserve what he fore saw as cultural genocide.
Gates' actions are morally reprehensible. Drastic legislation to take digitization of such treasures and apply a 95 year copyright on public domain materials has been lobbied for. Actions such as this is akin to kidnapping our shared culture and selling a body part back to us piece by piece.
